Industrial tunnel oxide and passivated contact (i-TOPCon) solar cells were metallized at Fraunhofer ISE using ultrashort pulse laser ablation of the passivation layers for subsequent Ni/Cu/Ag plating process. The feature a SiOx n-type doped polysilicon layer covered by SiNx rear side, whereas front side is made boron emitter with AlOx/SiNx stack. reference i-TOPCon screen-printed supplier reach an efficiency 23.46% measured CalLab. impact process on implied open circuit voltage (iVoc) characterized showing minor TOPCon while reveals increased iVoc loss due to damage. Loss analysis simulating plated points out benefit reducing opening (LCO) area in terms shading recombination. Optimization hydrofluoric acid (HF) pretreatment result Voc > 700 mV FF 82% leading mean 23.6% in-house champion 23.84% CalLab thus outperforming references 0.4%abs.
